Gateway to Gold Performance

When:  October 16, 2016

Where: University of Houston

Sports: Track & Field, Powerlifting, Rowing

Why:     Gateway to Gold is a free event for individuals with physical and visual impartments, including youth, adults and military veterans to test sport skills and help build the athlete pipeline for the U.S. Paralympic Team. As part of the event, prospective athletes will be introduced to Paralympic sport and will experience a variety of tests and sport drills that can help determine their aptitude for Paralympic sport and identify potential future U.S. Paralympic athletes.*

*Disclaimer: This is not a tryout or qualification for any U.S. Paralympic National Team. *All participants are asked to dress in weather-appropriate athletic attire. Wheelchair users are encouraged to bring their own racing orsport chair if possible. All athletes will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to participation. For participants under the age of 18,a parent’s signature will be necessary during the athlete check-in in the morning.

 

 

Gateway to Gold Experience

When:   December 3, 2016

Where: George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston, TX

Sports: Track, Basketball, Rugby, Tennis, Sitting Volleyball, Boccia, Air Gun & Power Soccer

Why:    Gateway to Gold is a free event that introduces individuals with physical and visual impairments, including youth, adults and military veterans to Paralympic sport. Bring your friends, join in the fun and come test your skills! No prior experience is necessary.

 

*All athletes will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to participation. For participants under the age of 18, a parent’s signature will be necessary during the athlete check-in in the morning.
